The Gold Coast Australia Rugby Union was established in 1964 and is the second largest sub-union in Australia, outside of the Brisbane area. The Gold Coast first competed in the Brisbane Sub District Competition in 1964 and 1967. The Gold Coast Union was promoted to the Brisbane First Grade competition in 1968 but found the move too difficult, disbanding and being re-instituted in the Brisbane Suburban competition in 1969.
The Gold Coast Breakers are an Australian rugby union team based in Gold Coast, Queensland. The team plays in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition. It is a very competitive sport, but players are motivated to achieve the best. The team is led by coach Tim Walsh, who previously led the men’s team.
The World Cup is the highest level of international rugby union competition. It is played for the William Webb Ellis Trophy and has been held at regular intervals since 1987. The Australian team became the first to win two World Cups. In the early years of the World Cup, France and England dominated the competition, but the emergence of many newer and better teams made it possible for the game to reach its current level.
